AGA Connection Stories: How One Glampsite Sparked a Global Web of Innovation, Partnership, and Play
In the world of glamping, meaningful connections often begin with a shared vision—a vision to build something beautiful, sustainable, and memorable. Few stories illustrate this better than the evolving partnership between Vicki Jones of Tractors & Cream, Louise Stone from TruDomes, and Nathan Mayfield of ResNexus.
What started as simple vendor-client relationships quickly evolved into something much more: a powerful network of collaboration, mutual support, and a few laughs along the way. Read on to learn more!
From Bell Tents to Domes: How TruDomes Transformed Tractors & Cream
Back in 2017, Vicki and her family were operating their Somerset-based glampsite, Tractors & Cream, using traditional bell tents. But the unpredictable British weather soon pushed them to find a more resilient—and exciting—structure.
“We had some heavy winds,” Vicki recalls, “and we were constantly putting tents up and down. We needed something stronger.”
That search led them to TruDomes, where Louise Stone introduced them to the brand’s signature geodesic domes. It was love at first pitch!
“Our TruDome geodesic dome has been the best choice. I love it, and our guests love it too! It’s visually stunning, and when guests walk inside, they’re always amazed at the space and design,” says Vicki.
Since then, Tractors & Cream has added nine domes in nearly every available size. They’ve even hosted prospective buyers for on-site tours and partnered with TruDomes to represent the brand internationally—including a family trip to Colorado for the Glamping Show Americas!
Louise adds, “Vicki has a dome obsession. She loves them more than handbags and shoes!”
Connecting with ResNexus: Turning Passion into Purpose
As Vicki’s presence in the glamping community grew, so did her impact. She met Nathan Mayfield from ResNexus after their team discovered her engaging content at the UK Glamping Show. More than just software, ResNexus is the behind-the-scenes dream team for running a standout hospitality business and Nathan and Vicki quickly had a lot to talk about.
“We were drawn to her fun personality and authentic presence online,” Nathan shares. “When we met in person at Glamping Show USA, we knew she had something special.”
That meeting turned into a long-term partnership. Vicki became a ResNexus Ambassador, helping to educate European glamping operators on the brand’s property management software. She now runs a glamping-focused Facebook group, leads educational webinars, and presents at industry events.
“She’s more than just a reseller,” Nathan explains. “She really helps others in the glamping space succeed—and she’s hilarious while doing it.”
At a recent ResNexus Academy, Vicki shared advice on overcoming camera shyness in social media marketing, then showed a clip of herself cleaning a dead rabbit from under a dome.
“It was gross, hilarious, and 100% Vicki,” Nathan laughs.
Innovation, Trends, and What’s Next
Together, these three AGA members are helping shape the future of glamping. From structure design to guest experience and operational efficiency, they’re seeing major trends emerge:
Multi-purpose Domes: Domes are no longer just for sleeping. At Tractors & Cream, event domes are used for yoga, family celebrations, and even mindfulness retreats.
Sustainability: Guests increasingly expect eco-conscious practices—like off-grid power, low-impact materials, and year-round usability.
Intentional Travel: As wellness, remote work, and staycations rise, glamping sites are evolving to support longer, more meaningful stays.
Functional Art: Nathan points to Hostel Cubed, a concept that blends modular living with local artwork, as a sign of where design is headed.
Vicki herself is building her dream dome setup right now: an 8-meter dome with two mini domes, a spiral staircase, and an indoor slide. “It’s not quite an infinity pool in the trees,” she laughs, “but it’s pretty close to perfect for us.”
The AGA Connection
This story is more than a case study—it’s a celebration of what’s possible when people connect through the glamping industry. What began as one operator searching for better tents grew into a thriving web of support, innovation, and international collaboration.
Through Vicki’s passion, Louise’s vision, and Nathan’s mission to educate and empower, this trio shows how strong community ties can move an entire industry forward—one dome, one guest, and one connection at a time.
