AGA Connection Story: Staylist x Specialized Accounting
Active participation is often where the strongest industry connections begin. As engaged members of the American Glamping Association, Staylist and Specialized Accounting have both been consistent contributors to the AGA community—participating in Lunch & Learn sessions, Glamping Business Spotlights, and in-person conversations at The Glamping Show USA. Together they have created their own collaboration grounded in education, practical problem-solving, and a shared commitment to helping glamping operators build stronger businesses.
How It All Started
Staylist first connected with Specialized Accounting through a client introduction at the end of 2025. According to Nic Gramstad, Director of Sales at Staylist, the timing was perfect.
“We knew Tyler’s background in hospitality and wanted his take on our rebuilt, USALI-certified accounting functionality. It immediately added a new level of credibility to how we handle accounting in the platform.”
For Tyler Otto, President of Specialized Accounting, the initial conversations quickly moved beyond a simple introduction.
“What started as a conversation about accounting and USALI considerations turned into ongoing discussions about how operators actually run their businesses.”
Why This Partnership Works
What makes this collaboration stand out is how intentionally the two companies complement each other. Nic notes that partnerships like this aren’t common in the industry.
“It’s rare for a software company to partner with an accounting expert. We saw it as an opportunity to really push toward being the gold standard.”
From Tyler’s perspective, Staylist’s hospitality-first approach made the partnership a natural fit.
“Their software is built for how these businesses actually operate. From an accounting standpoint, it makes reconciliation and financial clarity much easier.”
Behind the Scenes
Like many strong partnerships, this one was solidified in person. Nic recalls meeting Tyler face-to-face at the AGA Show after months of virtual collaboration.
“It’s one thing to have video calls, but meeting in person really shows who someone is. Tyler is razor sharp, but he has a way of explaining things so everyone can understand—definitely not your typical accountant.”
Tyler echoes that sense of ease and collaboration.
“Staylist made the whole process smooth and genuinely fun. They were open to ideas and truly collaborative when shaping the webinar topics.”
What They’re Building Together
The partnership’s first major project is a webinar series created specifically for glamping and RV operators. The sessions focus on practical accounting topics—like accrual accounting, tax strategy, and meaningful financial metrics—designed to help operators start the season with clarity and confidence.
“It’s about giving operators confidence in their numbers without overwhelming them,” Tyler explains.
And for Nic, the collaboration is about more than just content.
“We’re excited to keep strengthening the relationship and spreading the word about doing accounting the right way in our industry. And honestly, any chance I get to hang out with Tyler is a bonus.”
Looking Ahead
What began as a simple introduction has grown into an ongoing partnership built on shared goals, trust, and a genuine commitment to supporting glamping operators. With more webinars and collaborative projects on the horizon, Staylist and Specialized Accounting are just getting started.
