Meet Sam and Stephen Hopkins, Founders of Missing Hotel in Marble Falls, Texas

Missing Hotel in Marble Falls, Texas

Missing Hotel is a glamping oasis in the Texas Hill Country, consisting of 6 secluded glamping units, created for guests to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

Stephen Hopkins spent more time outdoors than indoors as a child, playing sports and camping with his father. Sam caught the outdoor bug when she was a bit older, and they now both enjoy traveling and spending time in nature together as much as possible.

Their mutual passion for travel, combined with their entrepreneurial spirit, paved the way for what would eventually become Missing Hotel.

Sam and Stephen went on vacation a year before starting this project. During the trip, they decided to rent a house in Australia for two weeks and dedicated their time to creating a business plan. They set a deadline and quickly got to work on making their dream a reality.

Any construction project will cost more and take more time than you think.

The pandemic hit during the construction period and there were unprecedented supply costs. Labor resources were almost nonexistent. So Sam and Stephen became resourceful and solved these problems in-house, getting their hands dirty literally and figuratively.

I get inspiration from the roadblocks

Sam and Stephen have stayed true to their original concepts, implementing changes based on guest feedback along the way. The essence of the project is still very much alive, but they say their work isn’t done. Now, they’re working on creating a more experiential environment where guests can truly relax and re-energize— and we can’t wait to see what’s next for them!
