RMS Pay launches in North America

Great news for the glamping and outdoor hospitality community: RMS Pay has launched in North America. As one of AGA’s premier partners, RMS continues to innovate in ways that support operators, simplify workflows, and elevate guest experiences. We spoke with Chris Bonds, Vice President of Sales for North America at RMS, to explore the impact of this launch and what it means for operators looking to modernize and grow.

For operators who may not be familiar with RMS, can you give us a quick overview of how it works and how the newly launched RMS Pay fits into the day-to-day running of a campground or glamping site?

RMS is a cloud-based Property Management System (PMS) designed specifically for the hospitality industry, including campgrounds and glamping operations. Think of it as your central hub for booking, guest communication, housekeeping, reporting and payments. Instead of juggling multiple disconnected systems, RMS brings all operations into one platform with real-time data and automation. It streamlines day-to-day tasks, gives you more time with guests, and helps you to focus on growth, not administration.

With the launch of RMS Pay, operators can finally say goodbye to juggling third-party gateways and extra payment tools. Everything, from pre-arrival deposits to check-out, happens in one place, all tied to the guest’s booking. It’s a faster, easier way to manage cash flow, cut down on admin, and give guests a smooth, secure payment experience from start to finish.

What payment trends are you seeing emerge in the glamping and outdoor hospitality sector, and how should operators be preparing for them?

The way guests want to pay is changing fast. We’re moving away from clunky, traditional methods and heading straight into the era of fast, seamless, digital-first options like mobile wallets, alternative payment methods, and tokenization. For Millennials and Gen Z, who live on their phones, fast, secure, and flexible ways to pay are no longer a bonus but are expected. That’s why operators need solutions like RMS Pay, to handle everything from online booking to check-out in one smooth flow. Future-proofing your payments is essential if you want to stay ahead.

RMS Pay has already seen success in Australia and Europe. Why is now the right time to bring it to the North American outdoor hospitality market?

Our customers around the world are getting hours back in their day thanks to RMS Pay, and we're excited to bring that efficiency and freedom to the market in the US.

It really is about spending less time with your head buried in spreadsheets or on the phone to your gateway provider, and giving you more time to do what you love... That's our mission...

No-shows and chargebacks can be costly headaches for operators. How does RMS Pay help reduce these issues in practical ways?

RMS Pay comes with useful tools like scheduled payments, pre-arrival deposits, and Pay By Link, designed to secure payments up-front and cut-down on no-shows. Because it’s fully inbuilt into the PMS, it’s easy for operators to apply cancellation or no-show policies. When it comes to security, EMV 3-D Secure (3DS) adds an extra verification step for online transactions, reducing fraud, cutting down on chargebacks, and helping ensure less money slips through the cracks.

Cash flow is vital for any business. What kind of impact can operators expect RMS Pay to have on predictability and financial planning?

RMS Pay makes it easier to stay on top of cash flow. It automatically collects payments, at key moments, such as deposits when someone books, final balances before they arrive, or even extras via Pay by Link. This structured approach means funds are received on time. This results in less guesswork and more confidence when it comes to forecasting revenue, managing resources, and planning ahead, especially during peak seasons or across multiple properties.

The system manages payments from booking all the way through to check-out. How does this level of automation save time and improve efficiency for owners and their teams?

Because every payment’s tied directly to its corresponding booking, RMS Pay saves you the hassle of manual reconciling, messy printouts or chasing down third-party vendors. You can process, track, and settle payments with just one click. In addition, features like Pay by Link make check-in way smoother and cut down on queues. One customer recently told us that automation saves them 8 hours every week, this is a massive benefit and frees operators up to focus on what’s important - their guests.

Security is a top concern whenever guest payments are involved. How does RMS Pay make sure transactions are both safe and compliant?

RMS Pay is PCI DSS Level 1 compliant, the top tier when it comes to payment security. Every transaction is fully encrypted and tokenized, and because it’s built right into the RMS platform, your staff never have to handle sensitive card information. It’s also got built-in tools like 3DS, real-time fraud monitoring, and dispute management to keep things secure on all sides. There is serious protection for you and peace of mind for your guests that is baked in from the start, not just bolted on later.

Looking ahead, how do you see RMS Pay continuing to evolve to meet the needs of campground and glamping operators in the coming years?

We’re focussing on automation, mobile features and flexible payment options. Think QR code payments for those late-night check-ins or real-time dashboards that give you an overview of all your properties. Our goal is to cut out all of the manual tasks like reconciling payments or processing refunds and swap it with smart, automated workflows. Looking ahead we see RMS Pay as playing a central role in a fully connected guest journey where bookings, payments, communications, and upsells all flow together seamlessly.

Why are payments becoming such a hot topic in the glamping and outdoor hospitality sector?

Payments are no longer a back-office function anymore, they are a key part of the guest experience and how smoothly your operation is run. Whether it’s speeding up check-in or offering mobile, contactless ways to pay, the when and how of payments really does affect both guest satisfaction and your bottom line. As your business grows, having a secure, integrated system like RMS Pay can make all the difference between staying ahead or falling behind.

How are guest expectations around payment flexibility (e.g. BNPL, Pay by Link) changing?

Guests want to pay their way whether that’s upfront, in installments, or straight from their phone. RMS Pay makes that easy with features like Pay by Link, so guests can pay securely via SMS or email whenever it suits them. In the future, we’re looking at adding even more options like Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) and other alternative payment methods. Because flexibility is no longer just a nice to have, it’s what turns lookers into bookers.

What lessons can outdoor operators take from OTAs and larger hotel brands when it comes to payments?

Big brands and OTAs get it, payments aren’t just a back-office task, they’re a strategic advantage. That’s why they invest in end-to-end systems that connect payments to booking data, analytics, and guest interactions. Outdoor operators should be thinking the same way. Tools like RMS Pay don’t just handle transactions, they give you insights, simplify your day-to-day, and help create smoother, more connected guest experiences from start to finish.
