AGA Member Spotlight: Sash Hickey, Harvest Hosts

Sash Hickey is the Senior Coordinator, Host Partnerships at Harvest Hosts. She works to create beneficial partnerships with companies and organizations who share a common goal of supporting small businesses and destinations.

Q: Tell us a bit more about why you started a company in the glamping industry.

Harvest Hosts started in 2010 and has since grown to 250,000+ RVing Members who support nearly 5,000 small businesses across North America. Harvest Hosts was created as a way to provide unique camping experiences ranging from farms and wineries to breweries and golf courses. There is something for everyone! Harvest Hosts continues to change the way people travel and the places they experience along the way.

Q: Tell us a bit about where your glamping business is today? Where do you see your business in the future?

Harvest Hosts has grown to support many types of small businesses, including those looking to step into the travel industry. Harvest Hosts provides a low-lift option for businesses who are wanting to get started but may not have the resources or funding to step into this industry. The program is free for our small business "Hosts" to join and no hook-ups or RV services are required. Simply offer Members a space to park for a one-night stay and in return, they patronize or donate to the business. Hosts are seeing an increase in annual revenue averaging $12K-15K per year.

Harvest Hosts has grown outside of this unique camping experience to additional brands such as Boondockers Welcome, CampersCard, and CampScanner. Our team is committed to the RV and travel industry, and continuing to bring new and innovative products to the market in order to propel all members and businesses forward.

Q: What are you most excited about within the glamping industry moving forward?

It is always changing and seeking to bring more people to the great outdoors. We want to play a small part in that movement! Harvest Hosts provides another way to travel and see the United States while supporting the small businesses that are the backbone of our country.

Q: Do you have any advice for those that are just starting out?

Look for simple things that will attract people to your business to make everlasting memories. It does not always have to be the fanciest or most expensive things that create the best moments and memories.
