AGA Member Spotlight: Exclusive Tents
Q: Tell us a bit more about why you started a company in the glamping industry.
Having come from Africa, the origin of glamping, and spending 17 years as a game ranger in the bush and using tents frequently, this industry came naturally to me. I had and still have a great passion for tents as they are “living structure” in many ways. I found glamping offers those who are uncomfortable about camping are now able to go out into nature and experience something the may have never done in their lives but for glamping. I like that luxury tents allows for one to marry the living space with the natural environment in a very eco-friendly and eco-friendly manner.
Q: Tell us a bit about your glamping business and where it is today? Where do you see your business in the future, what’s on the horizon?
Exclusive Tents specializes in quality, elegance, safety and longevity. Having started decades ago with a few small rectangular tent designs, we have made tents as large as 22,000 sq ft in a variety of shapes and designs.
We see ourselves keeping true to what we do with tents and not diversifying into other structures. We do however constantly innovate to improve our fabrics; quality and, always exploring new design alternatives.
For the future we are already working on system where our customers will be able to create their own tents designs and configurations making it more fun and interactive.
Q: What are you most excited about within the glamping industry moving forward and your glamping business specifically?
Most exciting is seeing the new and emerging markets and being a part of this evolutionary development. For us, we are excited to see our tents going up in a variety of different countries for the first time, decorating the world with our tents, one tent at a time.
Q: Do you have any advice for those that are just starting out?
Focus on what you are doing and not what your competitor is doing. Competition is a good thing, it gives customers a variety of choices. Be honest, honorable, speak truthfully and conduct one’s company with integrity, offering the best possible product at a reasonable price.
Q: Anything else you would like us to know about your, your business or your journey?
Our business is a two-family business with 40 years in the industry. We also try to focus on nature conservation where possible as this is a big part of our background. We are all outdoor enthusiasts spending a lot of our work and downtime out in the wilderness.
